Aaliyah Nye is a proud tribal citizen of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe). She also has ties to the African American community and has a family history emphasizing Native American heritage. Her parents are James Nye and LaQueena Douglas, and she has two sisters, Aazhenii and Aashawnti.
